6 Factions · 6 Philosophies · 6 Ways to Win

Choose Your Allegiance.
Shape Your Destiny.

Every card belongs to a faction, and every faction plays the game differently. Your faction choice isn't just a color — it's your entire philosophy of how to win. Find the one that fits you.

🏛️

What Are Factions?

Before you pick one, understand what they actually do.

Think of factions like different martial arts styles. A boxer and a wrestler are both fighters — but they approach combat completely differently. The boxer attacks fast and direct. The wrestler grapples and controls. Neither is "better" in the abstract — it depends on the matchup, the situation, and the fighter's skill.

Factions in The 12 Tribes™ work the same way. Kingdom swings hard and fast like a boxer. Prophecy controls the match like a chess grandmaster. Law absorbs punishment like a wall. The faction you choose shapes how you play — your tempo, your priorities, and your path to victory.

Three things a faction determines:

Card color — Which Holy Sites you need and what Faith you generate

Playstyle — Whether you're aggressive, defensive, tricky, or something in between

Synergies — Cards within a faction are designed to boost and complement each other

Kingdom

Gold · Royalty & War · "Strike First, Strike Hard"

Kingdom is the football team that always runs the ball. No tricks, no gimmicks — just raw power smashing through the opponent's defensive line. Kingdom cards hit harder than any other faction, buff each other's attack, and aim to end the game before the opponent can set up their fancy strategy.

Strengths

💪

Highest ATK Stats

Kingdom characters consistently have the biggest attack numbers. A Kingdom board is terrifying because every character hits like a sledgehammer.

👑

Faction Buffs

Many Kingdom characters strengthen each other when played together. It's like a team that gets better the more teammates are on the field — David doesn't just fight alone, he makes his entire army fight harder.

Fast Wins

Kingdom decks often win by turn 6–8 if left unchecked. Like a sprinter — if they get out ahead, you'll never catch up.

Weaknesses

Lower defense — All that attack comes at a cost. Kingdom characters are glass cannons — they hit hard but break easily.

Runs out of steam — If the game goes long, Kingdom often runs out of cards and momentum. Like a sprinter in a marathon — fast off the blocks, but fading by mile 20.

Famous Kingdom Characters

David Solomon Saul Hezekiah Josiah Rehoboam

Best for: Players who like to take charge. If your instinct is "attack first, ask questions later," Kingdom is your faction. Like picking the heavy hitter in a fighting game — simple to learn, devastating when mastered.

Prophecy

Blue · Visions & Foresight · "I Already Know Your Next Move"

Prophecy is the poker player who can read every tell. While other factions are punching or healing, Prophecy is drawing extra cards, peeking at possibilities, and waiting for the perfect moment to spring a trap. Prophecy doesn't rush — it outthinks.

Strengths

🃏

Card Draw Engine

Prophecy cards let you draw extra cards constantly. More cards in your hand means more options on every turn. It's like playing poker where you get dealt 8 cards while everyone else gets 5 — you just have more to work with.

🎯

Precision Removal

Prophecy miracles often target exactly the threat you need to deal with — like a surgeon removing a tumor instead of calling in an air strike. Efficient and clean.

🧠

Late-Game Domination

The longer the game goes, the stronger Prophecy gets. Every extra card drawn is another tool. Like compound interest — small advantage now, massive advantage later.

Weaknesses

Slow start — Prophecy needs time to build its card advantage. Early on, you might be taking hits while you set up. Like a diesel engine — slow to start, but unstoppable once it's running.

Lower raw power — Prophecy characters tend to have modest stats. You won't out-muscle a Kingdom deck in a straight fight — you have to outmaneuver it.

Famous Prophecy Characters

Daniel Isaiah Ezekiel Jeremiah Elisha Samuel

Best for: Players who like to think three moves ahead. If you'd rather outsmart your opponent than overpower them — if you enjoy the feeling of springing a perfect trap — Prophecy is your calling. Like playing chess instead of arm wrestling.

Law

White · Order & Covenant · "You Shall Not Pass"

Law is the castle on a hilltop. It doesn't come to you — it makes you come to it, and when you get there, you break against its walls. Law heals, shields, protects, and endures. It's the faction that says "Go ahead, hit me. I can take it. And while you're tired from swinging, I'll still be standing."

Strengths

🛡️

Highest DEF Stats

Law characters are incredibly hard to kill. They're the stone walls of the game — your opponent swings, and your characters barely flinch. Like a house built on bedrock.

💚

Healing & Restoration

Law cards heal your health and restore damaged characters. It's like having a team of medics on the battlefield — every wound your opponent inflicts, you patch right back up.

🔒

Protection & Shielding

Many Law cards give bonus health to your entire team. Like handing everyone on the battlefield an extra suit of armor — suddenly, nothing goes down easily.

Weaknesses

Low attack power — Law characters can take a hit, but they don't hit back very hard. Like a turtle — great shell, tiny bite. You're safe, but winning takes patience.

Slow to close games — Law can stall a game forever, but actually dealing the final 30 damage takes time. Your opponent might find a way through if you can't eventually press the advantage.

Famous Law Characters

Moses Aaron Joshua Nehemiah Ezra Phinehas

Best for: Players who like to play the long game. If you'd rather frustrate your opponent into mistakes than race them to the finish line — if your motto is "patience is a virtue" — Law will feel like home. Like being the goalie who never lets anything past.

Wisdom

Green · Knowledge & Growth · "Plant Today, Harvest Tomorrow"

Wisdom is the investor who starts saving at age 20. While everyone else is spending everything they earn (Faith) each turn, Wisdom is finding ways to generate more Faith, faster. By the mid-game, a Wisdom player is playing 7-cost monsters while their opponent is still stuck at 4. It's the snowball rolling downhill — slow at first, then unstoppable.

Strengths

📈

Faith Acceleration (Ramp)

Wisdom cards generate extra Faith or reduce costs. It's like getting a raise at work every month — eventually you're earning so much you can buy whatever you want. While your opponent plays one 3-cost card, you're dropping two 5-cost cards.

🌳

Characters That Grow

Many Wisdom characters gain stats over time — +1 ATK each turn, or bonus DEF when you play another card. Like a tree that gets taller every season — plant it early, and by late-game it towers over everything.

🐘

Big Finishers

Wisdom has access to some of the biggest, most expensive characters in the game — and with their Faith acceleration, they can actually afford to play them. Like bringing a tank to a sword fight.

Weaknesses

Vulnerable early game — Spending turns ramping up Faith means you're not playing defenders. Like a startup that's reinvesting all profits — great for the future, scary in the present.

All-in on the plan — If an aggressive opponent kills your ramp cards early, you're stuck with expensive cards you can't play. Like having a million dollars but the stores are all closed — big wallet, nothing to spend it on.

Famous Wisdom Characters

Solomon Job Deborah Abigail Nathan Ethan

Best for: Players who enjoy building toward something big. If you love the feeling of laying a foundation and watching it pay off — if you'd rather play the long con than go for the quick win — Wisdom rewards your patience. Like building a cathedral: brick by brick, turn by turn, until it stands taller than anything else on the board.

Wrath

Red · Judgment & Chaos · "Burn It All Down"

Wrath is the flamethrower in a toolbox full of screwdrivers. It doesn't build things — it destroys them. Wrath specializes in direct damage: miracles that burn the opponent's health, characters that deal damage just by showing up, and abilities that destroy enemy cards outright. If Kingdom is a battering ram, Wrath is a wildfire — it doesn't care what's in its path.

Strengths

🔥

Direct Damage

Wrath miracles and abilities deal damage directly to the opponent's health without needing to attack through characters. It's like bypassing the bodyguard and punching the boss — you're hitting them whether they have defenders or not.

💥

Board Destruction

AoE (area of effect) damage miracles can wipe the opponent's entire board clean. Like a flood that sweeps away everything — their carefully built army, gone in one card.

Enter-the-Battlefield Damage

Many Wrath characters deal damage the moment they arrive. No waiting, no summoning sickness for the damage — they announce their presence with an explosion. Like a guest who kicks the door down instead of knocking.

Weaknesses

Self-destructive — Some Wrath cards damage your own health or characters as a cost. Like a grenade — devastating, but you'd better not be standing too close when it goes off.

One-dimensional — Wrath is great at destroying things but poor at building lasting board presence. Like a demolition crew — expert at tearing down, not great at putting up new walls.

Famous Wrath Characters

Samson Elijah Goliath Nebuchadnezzar Pharaoh Jezebel

Best for: Players who want fireworks. If your idea of fun is watching the whole board explode, counting down your opponent's health like a ticking bomb, and living on the edge — Wrath is your adrenaline shot. Like being the villain in an action movie: unpredictable, explosive, and always entertaining.

Divine

Purple · Angels & Miracles · "Above All Others"

Divine is the Swiss Army knife. While every other faction is a specialist, Divine is the generalist that fits everywhere. Divine cards can be paid for with any color of Faith, making them the glue that holds multi-faction decks together. And Divine Holy Sites? They produce a little bit of every color — like having a universal power adapter that works in every country.

Strengths

🌈

Ultimate Flexibility

Divine cards work in any deck because they accept any color of Faith. Running Kingdom? Splash in a Divine angel. Running Wisdom? Add Divine support. They're the friend who gets along with every group.

Universal Holy Sites

Divine Holy Sites add +1 Faith to every color simultaneously. It's like getting a raise in every currency at once. Essential for multi-faction decks that need multiple colors.

👼

Powerful Angels

Divine characters include angels and heavenly beings — some of the most iconic and powerful cards in the game. They often have unique abilities that no other faction gets. Like having a secret weapon no one else has access to.

Weaknesses

Fewer cards available — Divine has the smallest card pool. While other factions have hundreds of characters to choose from, Divine is a boutique collection. Like a specialty shop vs. a supermarket — incredible quality, but limited selection.

Jack of all trades, master of none — Divine does a bit of everything but doesn't dominate any one area. You won't out-attack Kingdom, out-heal Law, or out-draw Prophecy with Divine alone. It's the seasoning, not the main dish.

Famous Divine Characters

Michael Gabriel Raphael Jesus Uriel Melchizedek

Best for: Players who want versatility and don't want to be locked into one strategy. Divine is perfect as a secondary faction splashed into any main color. It's the utility belt to your Batman — you might not lead with it, but you're always glad it's there. Also ideal for players who just want to play the coolest, most iconic biblical figures regardless of color.

🧬

Mixing Factions

One faction is good, but two together can be extraordinary — if you do it right.

You don't have to pick just one faction. Most competitive decks combine two factions to cover each other's weaknesses. Think of it like a buddy cop movie — one partner is the tough muscle, the other is the clever detective. Together they're better than either alone.

Popular Faction Combinations

+

Kingdom + Wrath

The full aggro assault. Kingdom's big attackers plus Wrath's direct damage — like combining the battering ram and the fire arrows. Games end fast, one way or another.

+

Prophecy + Law

The patient fortress. Law's healing and defense keeps you alive, while Prophecy's card draw finds the perfect answer to every threat. Like a castle with a watchtower — nothing gets through, and you see everything coming.

+

Wisdom + Kingdom

The ramp-into-power plan. Wisdom accelerates your Faith, then Kingdom's strongest warriors come down ahead of schedule. Like a rocket booster strapped to a tank — you arrive early and you arrive heavy.

+

Wrath + Prophecy

The calculated destruction. Prophecy draws you the perfect burn miracles, and Wrath casts them for maximum damage. Like a sniper with a spotter — precision devastation.

The Divine Secret

No matter what two factions you pick, adding a few Divine cards is almost always a good idea. Divine Holy Sites smooth out your Faith production, and Divine characters fill gaps in your strategy. Think of Divine as the universal adapter — it makes every combination work better. Most strong decks run a primary faction, a secondary faction, and a small splash of Divine cards.

Warning: three or more factions. While two factions is the sweet spot, going to three or more is like juggling too many balls — you'll constantly have the wrong Faith color and cards stuck in your hand. Like ordering from three different restaurants and trying to eat everything at once: messy and none of it at its best. Stick to two, splash Divine, and you'll be golden.
